Cook Like a Chef

Students will learn kitchen and food safety, food preparation, basic nutrition, measuring skills, meal planning and how to create, cook and bake many standard dishes. We will often make and sample foods in class as we demonstrate and practice skills to apply at home. The materials fee for this class will cover food and supplies for classroom use. Weekly homework will include reading articles and recipes, watching instructional videos, planning meals, making grocery lists and most especially making food! Students will prepare individual dishes, and complete meals at home with family food and supplies to share with their families, so be prepared to buy some ingredients throughout the semester. Students will finish this class with a collection of recipes and skills they will use for the rest of their lives!

REQUIRED MATERIALS:​

  • Recipe ingredients for preparing assigned dishes at home

  • 3-ring binder (at least 2 inches) and page protectors for creating a personal cookbook

  • Access to a printer for printing out recipes

​MATERIALS FEE:​​

  • $70 payable with tuition on August 1st
