In this course, students will learn how to write with structure and style through the use of the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) curriculum. Over the course of 28 weeks, students will learn how to effectively use a wide range of structural models and stylistic techniques in their assignments, as they write a variety of enjoyable fiction and non-fiction compositions based on their Literature readings. In addition, students will learn how to immediately apply new grammar knowledge in context, aiding in the transfer of grammar skills into their own writing. Lastly, students will read a variety of texts related to the historical time period of 18-15 to present day and will deepen their understanding of these texts through the use of a variety of active reading strategies and vocabulary exercises.
