In this class, we will learn some basic tool skills and building techniques. We will create several functional projects using dimensional lumber. Students will sometimes be required to bring tools into class. Students should have access to and guidance using a miter saw at home. Be prepared to take many trips to the hardware store!

IMPORTANT NOTE: WE WILL BE USING SHARP TOOLS AND INJURIES MAY OCCUR.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

A drill(and driver if you have one!)

Access to a miter saw with guidance at home. ( You could get by with a hand saw and miter box, it would just be very time consuming, but rewarding for sure!)

Bar clamps, 2@ 12” or 24” (hand tightening, not ratchet ones) (use what you may have or buy as needed)

Variety of sandpaper from 80-220

A16ish foot tape measure

Wood glue

There will be wood and small hardware purchases happening throughout the semester as part of homework.
